New series out now: BRIDGING RESEARCH AND PRACTICE TO SAVE DEMOCRACY

How can academics and practitioners (better) collaborate in times of autocratization?

What are obstacles and opportunities to bridge these worlds, especially now?

Are there inspiring examples out there that we can learn from?

To start with that last question: yes there are!
And you are hearing some of them in this new series of the People vs Inequality Podcast.

Starting with someone who is particularly effective in bringing together knowledge and practice for real change. Liza Mรผgge is a political scientist at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands who was recently nominated for a prestigious gender equality price. She’s well known for groundbreaking research รกnd media impact in her field of gender and democracy. She calls on us to be brave and step into the unknown - because where else would you learn and make change happen?

We talk about why collaboration is key, why more and more academics are stepping up, what it takes and what it can look like.

“I had to completely let go and I was so nervous. And it was just so great. So it taught me to just step out of my comfort zone and try something new.”

This and more in this first episode of a new series. So please grab a coffee or tea and listen in on the conversation!

Why this series? As more and more countries are facing democratic backlash, both activists and academics are under attack. They are also in a unique position to defend civic space and human rights - especially if they come together. What can we learn from those working across these spaces on doing this well?
